Why?

Why do a lot of people on AB ask a very specific question and/or for very specific help - and then never seem to respond to the answers? It is frustrating not knowing if they got what they needed!

I chose to put my question in Food & Drink because that is where I respond to more questions than in any other category.

Yes I often see you around the site I knew you came from Tennessee. I was quite cheeky before, someone in body and soul asked about USA postage and as I could only find our UK I said they might ask you. I think that`s what the site is about helping each other. If you look around at your replies today the stars are twinkling.
Oldwoman - they didn't ask me about the postage but I would have been happy to help them with it - if you see them again they can go to usps.com and it will let them look up postage on the USA website. If you ever need to contact me about anything at all, my email address is [email protected] - I agree, we should all help each other any time we can - the world is a much better place when we do!
I don't think people do it intentionally but it is nice to know that your answer has been seen and read. I answer inumerable crossword questions but it's mostly only regular users of the topic who acknowledge answers.I don't expect to be lauded and applauded for every answer I give but I get your point ....it's really just common courtesy which is sadly lacking in all walks of life these days.
shaneystar2 That is exactly what I was trying to say - you don't do it to be lauded or to get the little stars - but common courtesy would tell you to at least acknowledge the responses and let people know if it was what you wanted/needed or if you wanted/needed something else and for them to continue to try to help you!!! At first, being new on AB, I thought there was something I didn't know, but after all the responses to this post I am pretty sure it is not really just my problem :)
It takes seconds just to type "Thanks " ...and I always thank anyone who helps me or answers my crossword question .
I do sometimes get annoyed especially if I have taken the trouble to research something for someone and you never do find out if it's what they wanted ....but ...that's life kiddo !!
Best wishes to you

Welcome to our world Linda :) We don't do it for the thanks or the stars, but common courtesy would demand a tiny response of some kind when you ask for help and someone tries to give it to you! I am still kind of new on AB, but I have also noticed that some of the people who were deliberately being rude and mean are no longer being that way, or maybe they just stopped posting :)
