Spicy chicken drumsticks
10 Answers
Right, I have a pack of drumsticks (chicken that is!) in the freezer that I want to use up. Can anyone suggest something nice and interesting I can do with them please?
I would like something really spicy. Something like buffalo wings from the states!?
My pet hate.....places (especially britain) advertising on menu that the dish is hot/ spicy.......and it's SO not spicy it's ridiculous!!! Many thanks. Let the spice begin!!

Andy's Five Pepper Chicken Wings
"These will be the hottest wings you have ever had! If you like your eyes to water and nose to run, these are the wings for you!"

235 ml vegetable oil
1815 g chicken wings
115 g butter
710 ml hot sauce
15 g chopped fresh garlic
2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped
2 Thai chile peppers, seeded and chopped
2 habanero peppers, seeded and chopped
2 yellow wax peppers, seeded and chopped
2 red chile peppers, seeded and chopped
6 g salt and pepper to taste

just cover the drumsticks with any hyot spicey stuff you've got like ground chilli peppers, tabaasco sauce, any jar of chilli sauce you like etc and then wack them under a hot grill for about 15-20 minutes turning every so often so it looks like they're going black and caramelised. The other recipe sounds nice but this is dead quick. Serve with rice/tortillas/sour cream etc
I have been thinking about it Boyo and I think the easiest thing to do would be to bake them in the oven - I don't even thaw them out first - take them out and dip them in a combination of Texas Pete Hot Sauce and if that isn't hot enough, add some cayenne pepper from your spice rack to make it as hot as you want and put them back in the oven for a little while!!!
Thanks bbwchatt. But you wouldnt thaw it out?!? I have taken a breast of chicken put it in a bag with marinade and leave it thaw while marinading....but havent cooked from frozen like that.
What is texas pete hot sause? Is it readily available? I'm not against doing it from scratch, just would be easier with a sause possibly.
I can never get/ or order anything like the buffalo wings in america!! So many have tried to replicate, but miserably failed!!! It might have been that this place was very oriental influenced! Who have a much better grasp on spices!!! I want some buffalo wings now from the usa!!!....and I havent had breakfast!!! :-(

Boyo - that is the ONLY time I thaw anything out - if it is marinating in the fridge - otherwise, I just take it out of the freezer and cook it - it takes a little more cooking time, but I always cook meat low and slow anyway - I am an old lady, and have always done it that way - everyone else I know thaws first.
Texas Pete Hot Sauce is just a brand of hot sauce - it is in all our supermarkets here in the USA - you can just use Tabasco or your favorite brand of hot sauce in a bottle and if you want to make it hotter than that, just add some cayenne pepper to it.
Wish I could send you some Buffalo Wings - we even have a chain of restaurants/sports bars here in Chattanooga, Tennessee and other places too, called Buffalo Wild Wings. Since I cant do that, I went on the internet and found one that is supposed to be a copycat recipe of the first ones ever made in Buffalo, New York.
Original Buffalo Wings Recipe
Ingredients:
4 pounds chicken wings
salt and pepper to taste
4 cups vegetable oil
1/4 cup butter
2 teaspoons hot pepper sauce
1 teaspoon distilled white vinegar
Directions:
Heat oil in a deep-fat fryer or large heavy pot to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Cut off tips, and separate each wing at the joint. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Place half of the wings in the deep fryer. When the wings are golden brown and crisp, remove them and drain well. Salt wings to taste. Add remaining wings and repeat frying process. Once wings have drained a bit, place them in a large mixing bowl. Melt butter or margarine in a small saucepan. Mix in hot sauce and vinegar. Pour melted sauce over the cooked wings, and mix to coat the wings with sauce.

Review: Morningstar Buffalo Wings with Chicken McNuggets, not only did they look like Chicken McNuggets, they tasted like them with some buffalo spicing.
Do you think you can talk your fiance into a honeymoon in the USA for a buffalo wings expedition? Not many women would go for that honey :)
Again congratulations - I wish you both a long, happy and prosperous marriage!!!
