cut out ALL junk food and fizzy sugary drinks
Eat loadsa fresh fruit and veg+ drink loadsa water
eat everything in moderation (don't go ott!)
and do exercise!!! sounds really boring- but it saves u money cos most of these things that say low in fat/ sugar etc are a marketing con!!
hope this helps!

As well as the above excellent advice I find cooking fish in an ovenproof dish with a LITTLE Buttery light(It comes in a squeezy bottle just like salad cream and has only about 25% fat of butter but tastes as good)a squeeze of lemon juice and a bit of chopped parsley tastes great and is quick and easy use chopped veg. to thicken gravy or sauces instead of flour tastes good and uses less calories.I usually blend leftover carrots, swede or other veg. that will blend and use them.Good luck
I try to watch my weight and find eating out really hard. One of the simpliest things to do when eating out is to choose tomato based sauces instead of cream. The same goes for curries e.g balti over massala.
Plain boiled or steamed rice instead of fried rice.
New or jacket potatoes instead of chips.
Wholemeal pasta, bread and rice instead of the white varieties.
70% cocoa solid choc instead of milk choc (plus, as its so rich you'll want less)
Remove the skin & fat from meat (its my favourite bit and I weep while doing it)
Experiment with grilling, poaching and dry-roasting instead of frying.
Just don't get bored or you'll have a big blow-out and undo all your good work.

What is a "Healthy Diet"?
The Dietary Guidelines describe a healthy diet as one that
Emphasizes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fat-free or low-fat milk and milk products;
Includes lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs, and nuts; and
Is low in saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol, salt (sodium), and added sugars.
The recommendations in the Dietary Guidelines and in MyPyramid are for the general public over 2 years of age. MyPyramid is not a therapeutic diet for any specific health condition. Individuals with a chronic health condition should consult with a health care provider to determine what dietary pattern is appropriate for them.
Go to this website and put in your age and height and it will give you the food pyramid that applies to you:

Thing is, you can be healthy but that won't reduce your weight. You need to also try and get in contact with your hunger signals. Very often we eat out of boredom, loneliness, happiness, because it's 6pm, because we are thirsty! When you feel like eating, really analyse how you FEEL and work out
1) If you are actually hungry, and if so, what food is your body telling you it needs?
2) STOP as soon as you have had enough, and feel "content". ie- don't feel you have to finish your plateful, or until you are stuffed!!
