carrot, onion, water, bones (unless it is a veg stock) herbs celery are all commonly mentioned ingredients.

Odd socks, all the ones left over when you've done the washing and they disappear, leaving totally useless one socks (not a pair) although tastes better if they haven't been washed - no need for parmesan -oops sorry that might be a sock pot
Essential requirements are a deep pan and some form of heating eg gas, electric, coal or wood.
Well, dru..agh, forget all the above. I have found the most effective way to get anything going is to tenderly fondle it around the handle area.
depends where but a skateboard should do it.....

although some are funny i would appreciate sensible answers as its why i posted in the first place, thanks to original contributor
tee hee having seen the correct answer posted first time round, we were just having fun. don't take it personally. ps. don't go mad with the herbs as you will add them to the meal you create using the stock - a sprig of rosemary will usually suffice or small pinch of mixed herbs, plus pepper and salt (again not too much).
