Despite its name, why do we only (mostly) eat it at Xmas?

How many people have you heard say, '' I love Xmas Pud'', and when questioned how often they have it, ''only at Xmas''.

It's gorgeous ... I'd much rather have a plate of that than a turkey dinner anyday.

Why don't we eat it all the time?

Can you buy it all year round? Suppose you could make it all year round but it takes hours if you steam it.

No reason really why we can't eat it. Funnnily enough now you mention it the last time I ate it was last Christmas - hadn't given it much thought really.

Same with mince pies isn't it. Where do they go for 11 months of the year?

What do you have on yours naz? Like brandy sauce myself.
I hate it...tastes like wedding cake
i detest xmas pud mince pies stollen etc the thought of it makes me want to gag
Do you not think that is what has ruined xmas. The fact that we do have everything all year round. We used to look forward to turkey because you only saw it at xmas.Leave the pud for once a year.
I love it too - I made some yesterday fr the first time ever and it turned out really well (well I had to sample a bit!!) The recipe is here : http://www.recipesforvegans.co.uk/christmaspud ding.html
