Is there anyone in the North Herts area who can tell me what happened to the British Raj restaurant in Royston. I used to live in that area and when I went back a couple of years ago it had changed hands I think. Used to be really good but I didn't feel like trying the new one as it looked a bit tacky.

Thanks

British Raj Restaurant was founded by Mr. Nazir Choudhury in 1976. He sold the business in 2004 due to ill health and retirement. In 2018, the Restaurant Manager (Nazir's nephew) Siraj/Raj opened British Raj Express as a takeaway opposite Royston train station.

Last year Siraj's son Safwaan took over and they are, like the 'old British Raj' decorated with national industry awards.
