Hot or Cold?

When coffee was introduced to Britain...would the original drinkers have had it hot or cold? And is there any historical evidence that states how this would have evolved?

Coffee was introduced to Britain from Turkey. It would probably have been prepared in the traditional Muslim manner - with boiling water and sugar.
