i bought some stewing steak and when i used it it was quite chewy/tough. im cooking the rest of it today. how should i cook it so it becomes more tender. i have a while to do it so time/slow heat not a problem. i only have oven or hob.
Make some gravy and cover the steak in it in an ovenproof dish. Put your cooker on low (I assume its electric) and if its a fan oven then I would put it on 130 degrees if not put it on 150. Put the steak in for at least 4-6 hours, longer if poss.
To flavour the steak you could also put some chopped onions and mushrooms in the dish.
Tip - try to buy stewing/braising steak that has quite a bit of fat on it as this will help to make it tender.
thanks for the advice, i dont have a slow cooker so ive popped it in the oven on a low heat as kaztuz suggested. i will let you know how it turns out.....yum i hope !!
