If you don't know what you like maybe you should make a trial run at a local pub with a few freinds. That way you can test a few different kinds and have someone to get you home after. Be careful!

Put the letters of the alphabet on some card about the size of a postage stamp, cut them out and put them in a bowl. Each Friday pick one out and then spend the weekend trying to find a beer that begins with that letter. Some weeks you may go without, but there are hundereds of differnt brews out there, good luck.
