i am wondering if anybody would by anychance know of a recipe for cream of tomato soup as similar as possible to the heinz tomato soup. I know you may think well you may aswell just go out and buy it, but i would like to actually make this soup. so if anybody knows how to make a similar soup i.e in texture so thats its not watery and tastes good it would be appreciated.
Make up a mug of Batchelors Tomato Cup-a-Soup, and add...
1 level tablespoon Heinz Tomato ketchup,
1 teensy pinch of salt,
1 medium pinch of Cayenne pepper, (adjust to taste),
1 large pinch of sugar,
4 level teaspoons evaporated milk. (Carnation),
and stir well.
See if any of your friends can tell the difference.
Why would you want to make anything that tastes like Heinz tomato soup - disgusting sweet gloopy stuff. Any decent recipe book will have a recipe for tomato soup that's made from proper ingredients. By the way, at this time of year when fresh tomatoes are tasteless, I would recommend using tinned tomatoes.
Good question bananasquash, i'm tagging this one. I also want to know the secret behind this heinz classic.
I'd abandonned my idea to make cream of tomato soup after tasting this but if someone can produce a recipe i'll give it a go!
