I remember eating these delicious light crackers years ago. Are they still on the market under a different name perhaps?

I'm not sure if they are the same, but maybe you could try McVities Butter Puffs. They are light and flaky crackers and could be what you're looking for.

unfortunately they're not the same. Puff Cracknells had a unique close texture that almost 'sqeaked' as it was cut open. I've been living overseas for some years now and have come to realise just how much has disappeared from the home market!
I've got a feeling these have gone the way of Symingtons Jelly Creams and all other luscious treats we used to enjoy and probably disappeared in the 70's.

My Mum used to eat loads of these Puff Cracknells in the belief that they would help her lose weight, the squeaky texture always set my teeth on edge though.
