yes they can, I've got several tins in my cupboard at the moment.

Yes - always - sometimes they will say garbanzo beans on the label.

Yes, you should find them lurking with the tinned peas, carrots, sweetcorn etc. If you are really lucky you might even find other tins of cooked beans (haricot beans, puys lentils, kidney beans etc) hanging around as well, hopefully not causing too much trouble. I always rinse and drain them before use as I don't like the salted water they come in.
