So, it would be reasonable to say that pineapple 'helps the digestion'. However, there's no substantive evidence that bromelaine has any effect on the fats within body tissues.
Bromelaine has been subject to extensive research. There's good evidence that it can help to thin the blood, in a similar way to the drug Warfarin, so it may help those who suffer from angina and other heart problems.
It's also known to have anti-inflamatory properties, similar to aspirin.
Some researchers have suggested that Bromelaine derivatives might help prevent, or possibly treat, some forms of cancer.
However, adding pineapple to your chicken dish is unlikely to help you lose weight ;-)
