Can anyone recommend anything to diminish hunger pangs? I've heard of a chewing gum that contains something that is supposed to work - anyone tried this?

One of the best things to do is drink a glass of water, as sometimes the body confuses hunger with thirst..
I find that chewing gum makes me more hungry and someone told me this was because you're tricking your tummy. By chewing your tummy gets ready for food because your brain has told it so, so when it doesn't get any it make you even more hungry. I find that drinking a glass of water helps - are you on a diet or something?? it would help to know why you've got the hunger pangs in the first place cos if it's a diet nibbling on fruit and veg is ok... or just cave in a get a big mac like i usually do!

I would agree with shybear - cleaning your teeth works as well.

I'm not on a diet - just feel peckish a lot as I'm sitting at a desk for most of the day. I pick at fruit a lot and drink water but a lot of the time all I want to eat is cake! Oh no - my stomach's rumbling again! :-)
ecstacy and water and amphetamine and booze but you can try them separately as well. also two of the above are illegal in uk
Try cereal with milk, it keeps me filled up for hours.
You need to maintain your meatbolism at a regular rate, so start with a good breakfast, and snack on nuts or fruit every two hours or so, this will keep your digestion going, and sholuld stave off the hunger pangs.
Ah, I thought you were on a diet as well. In that case try a bag of 'no-need-to-soak apricots or similar fruit to stave off hunger pangs, and get your sugar hit in a more natural way.
Whoops, sorry andy - it seems I've almost copied your post.
