Toys in cereal packets

Who decided it was a great idea to put those annoying and useless toys in cereal packets? I feel guilty if I chuck them away, but can't stand them cluttering up the place! Thanks!

Oh come on flirty, don't you play with them? I had great fun with the Finding Nemo squirty things - then I took them to our local hospital for the children. Sad ain't I?

Thanks for your views people! Cetti, no, I'm afraid I don't play with them at all, but just think 'oh no, not another one' and chuck it aside to collect dust for a while before I finally throw it in the bin! But what a good idea of yours to give these toys to the hospital, or even a charity shop! I might do that! Seriously though, does anyone know when this idea first came about - when the first cereal packet toy was actually manufactured? :-)
