A chewy and cured strip of beef with a very long shelf life. LIke a Texan salami, I suppose. Very nice actually.

No, jerky is very chewy.

I quite like some pork scratchings but the hairs put me off and the fact that i broke my tooth on one once!

I tried beef jerky and found it disgusting! pricey too for what it is!

we have a factory in rugeley that makes pork scratchings and the smell would put you off forever?

however.........i am greedy, so i quite liked like them when i had all my teeth but have moved onto the soft pork scratchings that you get? still just as tasty but they are really soft.............. a bit like monster munch texture??

I was eating a pork scratching when I was about 3yrs old, my older sister kept saying 'Give me one' I kept saying 'No;. Then she said "You know what that is don't you, it's pig skin". I said "No it's not", at that point i could feel something prickling inside my mouth, i looked at this thing and it was full of short pricky stubbly pig hairs..
I've been a commited vegetarian ever since. Discusting, like all meat products.

In answer to the 'jerkey' I'm sure the name 'jerky' refers to the seasoning. I have a jar and it's very, very spicey: an original Caribbean seasoning.
