What is the best white wine you have tasted, expensive and cheap??

I love a good chablis but for parties find Asda Chilean Chardonnay to be a cheap tasty plonk??

Have a BBQ ( or not as the weather is at the Mo) in 2 weeks and want to provide some cheap wine that does not tast like vinegar..

DRY wine suggestions only please

Many thanks

I like Sylvaner (a white wine from Alsace) as it's fruity enough as a drink and not powerful to have with food. Don't know how much it costs in UK
I like the Italian wine SOAVE. It's not too expensive and its areally crisp dry wine. At the moment I am stocking up on an offer at Somerfields supermarket. They are offering a wine called 4 EMU'S, available in white, red and rose. I have only tried the white wine and it is really good. It's on the shelf at 6.05 per bottle, but the special offer is buy 4 for 10.00, with an extra 5% discount if you buy 6 or more bottles. This is an absolute bargain, as the wine is real quality. Get in quick whilst the offer is on !!
oddbins own red or white wine is really nice, and not expensive (can't remember exactly how much but about 3-4 a bottle). perfect for a bbq i think.
