Does anyone remember Sara Lee, Danish pecan cake?
12 Answers
I have been searching for it everywhere, it was like a cake sized Danish Pastry with pecans in it, and cinnamon, it was made by Sara Lee and was simply beautiful!!!! Anyone else remember it, if so, is it still available?

I used to buy the sarah lee danish pecan pie from sainsburys. Then one day I noticed like with a lot of their products they had decided to stop selling the pie as it was obviously very popular, and replace it with their own pecan pie in an almost identical box. This pie as you can guess was crap, and so their sales dropped because they think we are stupid, and becuase of this they then dropped they pecan danish pie. The same story with Robinsons high juice, it has been replaced in many stores with their own brand which doesnt taste anything like the original. Tney may in some cases argue its still being made by the original manufacturers (doubtful), but by the time theyve driven the price of the product down and made the key ingredients cheaper you end up with a different product. Tescos and sainsburys will have a lot to answer for as time goes by, we will all reflect on the original products produced which are no longer available in the mainstream. Have you tried their own brand choc ices? bearing in mind there was no other alternative in the freezer. packaging looked fine and a reasonable price, but when i got home and tried one it tasted awful. But they dont care, once your through their doors what choice do you have. David beevers. ([email protected])

Guys, I have been on the same quest for years having had this as a kid. At the weekend I happened across this a Butterscotch and Pecan Danish Whirl - that looked similar and brought back memories.
I tried it and can honestly say its the closet thing I have tasted to the original Sara Lee Pecan Pie! Less cinamonny but the exact texture - delicious!! I recommend. 15 years and I feel I have finally found my fix!
