Hi puddicat
I am afraid I have given up using clingfilm. I too have the same problems. I use plastic sealer bags now. So much easier.

you are so right but wanted to fight the beast!!!
I do occasionally use clingfilm but I do have to make sure that:-

1. It is in its *behaving* mood
2. It is kept out of sight in the drawer in between uses or it gets far too stroppy for its own good and
3. It is frequently threatened with replacement.

I keep mine in the same drawer as the foil and greaseproof paper and find that they (being a bit more mature) tend to keep it in order.

The real solution though is to re-use those little plastic bags you get in the supermarkets for loose veg and fruit (or just turn them inside out) for stuff like onion, pepper or courgette halves.....
i too gave up the unequal struggle with clingfilm. i now buy rolls of very cheap, thin plastic bags (you get about 1000 for 1 in cheap shops) and find they do the trick.
I gave up and use the zipper type plastic bags /plastic containers /foil.

My adult son calls it "Devil Wrap". :)

When pulling it off the roll, tear it only about half-way across rather than all the way and pull that end back to where it started and then - still holding that end - tear the rest of the way from the other side with your other hand. That seems to keep it flat and unrumpled, ready to use.
I used to buy the really cheap cling film from supermarkets and it was a nightmare. I've since found that just buying a slightly more expensive one works for me, it is much easier to handle!
Why do they still make cling film then???
Don't the makers realise the trouble we have with it??
I am like Jugglering.
Lakeland Plastics produce a cutter for 2. 50 that slots on the cling film box. I find it wonderful after wasting so much of the stuff.
Further to sandwich's reply.
I buy the Lakeland ' NO FAF' version and it really does what it says on the box. So easy to use and because you don't waste any a pack lasts forever.
Good luck
