wine Help please

been told to spend �30-40 on bottle of wine for customer, this guy know's his wine apparently so i have to get something good any idea's, go a victoria wine & sainsbury's to choose from

if "the guy knows his wine", he will not be impressed by price or the lack of it.
Whilst I have spent well over a hundred pounds on bottles before (for drinking, not cellarage!!!!!!) I have also spent �3.99 and found them to be excellent.
I am probably going to be vilified for saying this, but one of the finest wines I have ever had was a 2002 Paul Masson American Red. Price �5.19. !!!!
