Oh, yes indeed they would. Stew the apples a bit first, then stick the blueberries in last minute - they'll cook enough in the oven. Nice bit of chopped hazelnut or walnut in with the crumble topping, and brown sugar, of course, and a few oats if you have them. Can I come to tea? Oh, and i like ice cream with my crumble, if that's ok with you.....
Hi S - add some oats to the cumble mix as well if you like it crunchy - always helps. Use orange juice as a liquor for the crumble as well )with some orange liqueur for added adult content if you fancy). Oranges go so well with blueberries, and apple will add a little extra texture. Suggest a sprinkle of lemon juice to preserve the colour of the apple by the way and this will add a nice tartness to the crumbel too.
If you fancy a slight alternative - mix the berries with diced peeled apple, shredded coconut, sour cream (add a few drops of lemon juice to the single cream and stand at room tempo for 30 mins), a little sugar and diced grapes if you have some around. Place in individual dishes, top with muscovado sugar and let the sugar toppping 'melt' so it becomes a brulee style without cooking. Serve and enjoy....
