680g good Bramley apples, peeled and sliced
300g rinsed fresh blackberries
255g shortcrust pastry - your own or ready made is fine...
75g-100g soft brown sugar
25g butter, diced. Use unsalted.....
1 tbsp plain flour
1-2 tsp caster sugar
Pinch of cinnamon
Pre-heat oven to 200C (400F /Gas 6. )
Mix the brown sugar, cinnamon and flour together in a bowl.
Put layer of apple slices and blackberries in the base of a medium sized pie dish, & sprinkle with some of the sugar, cinnamon and flour blend.
Repeat the layers until the dish is filled, and dot the butter over the apples.
Roll out the pastry until just larger than the pie dish, cover the dish with the pastry, & use any off cut bits to decorate the pie top if you like.
Brush with water and sprinkle with caster sugar. This will make a nice glaze over the top of the pastry.
Bake for 45 minutes.
Let it stand a bit before serving - with custard, cream or ice cream.....
Hope that helps..
