Summer is upon us (sort of),and Pimms is the drink of choice for people trying to be flash. But what's it made of / from?

It was first made in 1840 by James Pimm in a oyster bar in the City of London as a digestive tonic because it then contained quinine. The secret mixture of herbs is known only to six people.

Pimms Number 1 is based on Gin. Number 2 on Scotch, Number 3 Brandy, Number 4 Rum, Number 5 Rye and Number 6 Vodka. I believe only 1 and a small amount of 6 are available today.

I actually like Pimms and have been drinking it as well as other things for about 35 years.I don't believe it's flash at all but very refreshing on a hot summer day.Unfortunatey because it slips down very easily, I have been known to have one or two too many.
