What type of Caviar ?
1 Answers
trying to identify a type of caviar i bought recently.
it cost 10 in Prague. Prague is extremly cheap for foodstuffs so this stuff probably translated into being 25 if bought elswhere in the world.
The jar was small - something like 3 oz
.
Unfortunately I cannot remember the name that was on the lid, but it wasn't Sevruga, Beluga or Osetra which are the three types of "real caviar" (and expensive wherever you buy them)
The eggs were largish and dark gray which rules out lumpfish which is small and cod which is orange. They had a dark smokey/nutty flavour
The lid carried a picutre of what looked very like a sturgeon. Could it have been domestic white sturgeon eggs ?
