Whisky gift from Scotland
9 Answers
Is this nice? I wanted to get my partner some whisky for xmas. I came across what I think is a really pretty gift. Unfortunately it is only stocked in shops in Scotland and a few in England. I can buy it on the internet but though it looks nice (to me) in the picture, I am worried in case it doesn't look like it in real life. It's the globe.

I'd really like to see it or have an opinion if anyone has seen one or can go and check them out for me if they look in any of the shops it is stocked in. Tell me if it looks cheap and plasticky or like it does in the photo.
I used to buy clothes from the catalogue when I was young and they would always arrive and look n nothing like the colour enhanced photos. So am a little wary.

Jedimistress, here's a variety to choose from and their prices are reasonable.

Mrwarpig considers himself an aficionado of whisky particularly single malts and he, for one, would not give a flying f@rt what the bottle looked like, it is what is inside that he savours. Given the price of the globe, your money would be better spent and the present more appreciated by buying one of webbos suggestions. Good luck with whatever you decide.
Tesco's have got some cracking offers on at the moment on single malts... one of the smoothest is Highland Park, followed by The Balvenie, Talisker, Dalwinnie and Glenmorganie. Jamiesons is also very very nice ! Laphroaig is a bit of an *acquired* taste as it is very peaty but once hooked you or your beloved will be a fan for life !
If can afford it, go for the oldest (12 or 15 years or beyond) but I can assure you that even a 10 year old single malt will be far far superior to anything from the gift shop !
