how big are pumpkins ment to be before you cut them off there plant or what colour do they have to be ?

Colours can vary from pale yellow to almost black, it depends upon the variety, as far as size is concerned, I believe they grow up to 250lbs, at last years Horticultural show the heaviest was 116 lbs. winemaker
