Mrs Myriad has made a chilli that is so hot we're breathing fire. As it seems a shame to throw away, does anyone have any ideas to cool it down?

Not really, you could try and add some tinned tomatoes and'dilute' the chilli or alternatively serve it with something cooling like soured cream or yoghurt (or beer!!!) But dont know of anything that will actually take away the chilli heat.
I agree with warpig, otherwise you could add some potatoes and cook it through with the chilli & that'll take some of the heat out.
You could always make another batch (with less or no chilli) & mix it with this one & freeze what you don't use.
My usual answer is to make some more, but without any chilli peppers, mix the two together, cool and freeze the result.

try to eat more then you will get used to it:)

my bf is crazy at eating chilli, i tried to put more chilli when im cooking already, he still always put5 or 6 more very hot chillis in her own plate.
I agree with mirela, practice eating it til you get used to it :D

other than that make a yoghurt dip and mix some in when its on your plate.
I'm sure you adding a tomato tin will help. If I'm eating chilli food I have a glass of milk with it so my mouth doesnt burn. I must be like the only Asian person who hates chilli food!!

(by the way, I love it hot, it's the rest of the family that doesn't)
Get a bunch of grapes to accompany the meal. It's amazing how quickly they soothe away the chilli pains !

Add grated dark chocolate (80% cocoa stuff). Seriously.
adding butter to any hot food helps. it coats your mouth whist eatin it.
Someone I used to work with in a pub kitchen swore by adding hot chocolate powder to it if the chilli was too hot. I've never tried it myself but his chilli was always amazing.
No-one has mentioned stirring into the too hot mix a pot of natural yoghourt. Works. Not sure why..
