In my humble opinion the better translation is L'amore e il vino rendono dolce la vita.

Thank you both - 'Grazie tante'. I am an Italian-American, and I enjoy my heritage...the art, music, language, and of course, the food. I wanted to paint this phrase on the wall in my kitchen as a welcome sign to my family and guests. I promised myself I would learn to speak proper fluent Italian, but I am still a neophyte.
