I have lashed out on 2 large halibut fillets, and the only cooking suggestion is to fry them in oil. Yes I know I should make my own mind up, but how would this be superior to microwaving in a covered casserole dish ?

I propose to serve with (disappointing) Jersey Royal potatoes and loads of chilled cherry tomatoes, salad cream and HP sauce/chilli sauce to taste.

Not too bad. If you add 2 tbsps of water per portion and cover as well as possible.
Far too nice a fish for me not to fry though.
Since you're too lazy to clean up and want to microwave, put it in a Pyrex dish, sprinkle whatever seasoning you like and a few knobs of butter. Cover and microwave on high for 4 to 6 minutes or until halibut flakes when tested with a fork. Garnish with chopped parsley.
oh whiffey if only i could afford to buy halibut, i would be making love to it! and no hp sauce cos thats made in holland now!!
You can always grill fish with a coating such as herb and garlic, sweet chili sauce, pesto, parmesan, butter and lemon. 5 minutes per half inch of thickness, and one side only.
