Can creme fraiche be used as a savoury/healthy alternative to soured cream? I am having a very hot homemade chilli tonight and would like to cut back on some calories......

I plop a little on top in the middle and take alternate spoonfuls with.without LOL

It does take away the initial heat - for a bit anyway! It;'s a belter of a chilli I made sooooo looking forward to it!!! Mmm mmm mmm Happy days!
Creme fraiche (half fat) is briliant used as a pasta sauce, mixed with bacon, leeks and a red chilli.
i use it instead of the creme part of creme brulee. mix together some strawbs, sliced nectarines or peaches, and grapes. put some ratafia biscuits on top, and then two pots of creme fraiche. top the lot with some soft brown sugar and either zap it with a blow torch or put under a very hot grill for a couple of minutes.
This is all making me very hungry now

I use creme fraiche on warm pasta twirls with chopped sweet peppers and have it for breakfast.
If the chilli is strong there is no reason why you can not use turkey mince. half the fat and half the calories.

If it is on the mild side (or used in Shepherds pie etc) turkey mince simply doesn't work.

Cremem fraiche, as said will be fine. Have some raw chopped toms as well.
