What is it like? Any recommendations?.

Try a red wine called Malbec it is superb, only hope you can get it in Canada.

What area are you in, if Vancouver there are a few wine stores called Liberty wines that stock Malbec from the Central valley and Maipo
Also from Canada itself there is a lovely Malbec from the Oki - what not - region produced by Sandhills luvverly.
