I am fed up with bread! Can anyone recommend a brown loaf, any thick sliced sort, that is always soft and not hard and dry around the edges.

Have you tried Hovis, Warburtons etc?
Tesco's do a lovely tasting *rustic* wholemeal loaf that is sometimes available ready sliced in my supermarket. I rarely buy the pre-sliced stuff, all their slices are too thin for me !
Dont think you can beat Kingsmill Thick sliced. 2 for 1.60 at Iceland
I would recommend Hovis too. However.....make sure you check the collar date. You want at least 3 days before the date runs out. Shops sometimes leave it until the day before..this may be why you have hard crusts. XX
