Well hello and nice that you think that bunging coriander leaves in the freezer is a fantastic tip. My cooking of curries is really simple and has more to do with heat and bone idleness and Pataks sauces than originality and kitchen creativity.
I use dried coriander powder, is that bad??

psst whiffey, pataks pastes are better than the sauces :)

thanks for responding so quickly ! ;-)

i've read many food threads and saw your very helpful food post on them. i remember seeing one with you explaining how to cook a good curry. i think you're brilliant !!

kn0bbynonuts, do you mean bean sprouts, Brussels sprouts or sprats? :-)
bag.lady, can I get this clear please lol !!!

To me, cooking a curry is a simple matter of chopping and burning onions and garlic, adding a Pataks jar, simmering for a while, then adding a tin of chopped tomatoes and a chopped Dorset Naga chilli, then in the last few moments, a couple of packets of Lidl frozen king prawns.

I'm glad you liked it though.

omg, Dorset Naga !!! you must have an asbestos stomach and love very, very hot peppers and spicy foods. that curry prawns recipe sounds mouth-watering. i will try it on the week end. i grow hot peppers and make my own hot sauces.
ooh why are you in a cage knobby? are you a gibbon or summat?
LOL - our whiffmeister is not a chef ... I do the cooking round here.... he just directs from the lounge.....

Fresh coriander is gorgeous added to any dish, just wash, chop and add..... the dried stuff is totally different and comes in seed form (which is good ground up) or whole but crushed....

thanks for the tips, everyone. will try all of them.
Jugglering, are you and Whiffey living together? He is way cool. Never knew he was a 'he' up until now. thanks for sharing that too. lol
Whiffey; are you SURE bag.lady isn't an ego boosting alias of yours? TBH I've never witnessed someone go to water over the fact that coriander leaves are nice on a curry and making curry from a jar puts you up there with Madhur Jaffrey.
Yes Booldawg, I think I'm being led along here ! However, it seems that if I switch from Pataks sauces to pastes I will become a Gordon Ramsey.
I can see 'Whiffeys Culinary Corner' being a regular feature on AB :-)
Heaven forbid Booldawg, I think it would bomb regularly, as did the Masterchef Quote of the Week threads on Cerescape, you know, famous lines like this from Greggs Pasty:

"You didn't have a masher. You want lumps in it ? You have succeeded. You HAVE made lumpy mashed potato."

or this from the Toad:

"This around the outside is starting to look a bit swamplike"
Apart from using fresh coriander as garnish and flavourings, I add it along when I'm juicing fruits. It adds a freshness and a unique flavour.

Whiffey a chef? LOL LOL LOL
