Simple buffet party food
31 Answers
Any ideas? I have the usual rolls and sandwiches but what else can I have as small buffet party food? We are preparing it ourselves for over 100 people in 2 weeks time and I am getting worried. Any ideas would be great, thanks.
It all has to be cold too as preparing it and then taking to venue.
Thanks Jules x

Absolutely gorgeous and always the first thing to disappear when i make them for hot or cold buffets!
Pasta or rice salads with nice bits in- sweetcor, chicken, peppers and a dressing.
mini bit size quiches made in jam tart sized trays.

Boil up your biggest saucepan of white rice.
Let it semi- cool.
Add some olive oil, red, green and orange peppers, sweetcorn, frozen peas and tiny florettes of broccoli.
Mix evenly through and you can't go wrong with cold savoury rise.
Very cheap as well.
Also make some hedgehogs with cheese and pineapple, cheese and silverskin pickled onions and cheese and olives..

I used to make a lot of salads for the various 'events' for our local PTA '"do's". Pasta salad with diced peppers, sweetcorn, chopped spring onions and an oil and finely chopped mint dressing. Coleslaw - grated carrot, onion and finely shedded white cabbage with a mayo and natural yoghurt dressing . Potato salad with chopped herbs / red onions, also with a mayo/yog dressing. Platters of ham / thinly sliced beef / chicken. Maybe fish - salmon or smoked mackerel. Green salad - lettuce and watercress. Cucumber salad, tomato salad etc etc. And lots of fresh crusty bread and butter. You could serve dressings separately. Don't forget bowls of crisps / peanuts. Cheese and pineapple or cheese and cherry tomatoes on cocktail sticks not forgetting cocktail sausages. Most of this lot could be prepared a day or two in advance as long as you have 'fridge space. Although the bread is best bought on the day. I've always thought that sarnies and sausage rolls could be a bit boring but salads, etc., a bit more exciting and not, necessarily, harder to prepare. Good Luck. Have a great time and I hope everyone enjoys the buffet.
Simple, don't invite Veggies. Bloody liberals.........
But plain quiche (as said) and non-pepperoni pizza will keep them amused why they read their Guardian.
But why stop at Veggies????
Don't forget
1) the halal muslims
2) the Jews
3) the lactose intolerant
4) the wheat intolerant
5) diabetics
6) dieters
7) greedy fckers
8) pregnant women
9) body builders
Otherwise you WILL be sued!!!!!
And finally, don't know how you feel about this but at finger food buffets I love ox-tongue, which again is very cheap and most tasty.
