I very much agree with you !!! to buy pork with no rind on is the same as buying a pair of shoes with no laces..
A few weeks ago I took a couple of COOKED pork chops back to tesco's because they were rindless ( my wife had bought them earlier and had'nt noticed) they said this was the way that they had got them from the supplier and then refunded the money, I then checked with the meat factory as it's just down the road from me and a friend of mine is a manager there he said it is now their policy to supply pork without rind unless otherwise stated, however he said that once the rind was removed it was then sold to other outlets for pork scratchings...
I suggest you don't eat animal fat unless you're tired of life. Just eat moderately, mostly plants and some fish. A little red wine is good. The supermarkets know what people buy - evidently most care for their health, as you should.
Come on juandelacruz - a little of what you fancy does you good. Obviously it's no good if you eat animal fat all day everyday, but once in a while is no problem.
Try at Morrisons, they sell rolls of it! I buy three rolls, roughly 10x8 inches for around 70p - I score it with a stanley knife, rub in oil and salt and get the most delicious crispy golden crackling you can imagine.
there are so many reasons we need to support local butchers. They can tell you what farm your meat came from, probably much fewer food miles than the supermarkets, he can work out cheaper, and he can bone/ stuff and do all sorts if you ask him. Same goes for sa decent fishmonger if you can find one.
