Harvesters Early Bird Deal
6 Answers
Has anyone been to a harvester when they are doing the early bird deal?
Mon-fri i think it is 1/3 off all prices until 6.30pm.
The website says as long as you are seated by 6.30 you get the deal. http://harvester.co.uk/the-earlybird.html
The only 2 times we've tried it, the first time nothing was a third off and the second time all but the 2 main meals were 1/3 off.
Each time the staff altered the bills but i wonder how many people dont check. Is it a scam for the staff to bump up their wages?

I can't say what other outlets do but the rule is as long as you are sat by 6.30pm Mon- Fri (Sat 5.00p.m.) you get earlybird price i.e.1/3 off price of only starters and main meal (exc platters). If other units are not doing this then they are wrong. It can be confusing to some new staff ( and errors by experienced) to remember what screen on the computer to use. It is no benefit to staff what they charge, but a great benefit to the manager. You're correct, it's important to check your bill regardless of establishment.

Thanks Sarah, I do wonder if there is some sort of incentive for them to be overcharging like this.
first time it happened they tried to say that even though we'd been sat at table waiting at 6 and not been served til 6.35 we werent entitled.
So the next time we went i had the offer printed out and in my bag in case we needed it.
Funny how everything was a third off apart from 2 x 15 steaks meaning the bill was 10 dearer. The waitress said her til had obviously not recognised the time we had ordered - the bill said 18.12 on it and the till had managed to discount all outher valid items on the bill. She made it out to be that the till calculated all discounts, though that was after she tried claiming we'd got in after 6.30.

Sorry at late reply, been at work all week (ha ha), waitress' response was ludicrous. The till isn't time sensitive, it just has seperate touch screens for earlybird & standard. Are you in the S.E. by chance? It seems ( from gossip) more underhand things go on. I'm from Wales & the unit I work in takes pride in all aspects of care. It sounds to me as if you were fobbed off. Also, I don't know what steak you were ordering, as far as I'm aware , the only steak for that price is Ribeye which isn't on the Earlybird menu, so you weren't given correct menus. I'm a fussy diner, & I doubt I'd visit that particular unit. I'll stop my rant now, Sarah
we are over in suffolk.
The steak was the henry VIII steak and was on early bird at 10 compared to usual 15
we may give it one more shot cos, to be honest, sometimes its easy to go out rather than cook lol
But if they do it a third time then a sharp email to HO will be winging its way lol
is it possible that the waitresses can change order after weve paid and pocket the difference?

Sorry late reply, work long hours. Answer, yes , it is possible. However it would take an authorised person to be logged on till so that voids could be done & then the order put through again , so the grill team gets a duplicate order. Waitress could use excuse that she'd "accidentally" put original order on Standard not E.B. but they should wise up if there's consistancy... Hope that makes sense. Incidentally. Also, bear in mind that with all chains, standards and brands should be identical but they never are. If you're like me it seems very hit and miss to find somewhere good & consistant to eat. Good luck in future visit, & if they get it wrong again go with your gut. ...Finally, your bill should have a website address onit where you can post your comments. End of rant once more, Sarah
