I bought some unripened bananas about two and a half weeks ago from my local market and they're still green! They've hardly ripened at all. Does anyone know why this would be? I've put them in the dark and put them next to some apples but that doesn't seem to have done much. Have they been sprayed with some sort of scary chemical?

That's very odd! Are they pretend ones ;0/
Like the ones you get in a display of fruit lol!!!!
Yep! Try biting one!
Are you sure they're not West Indian cooking bananas??!!!

They look exactly the same and a nice green colour!!!!
That happens to me all the time with fruit. You watch it and watch it for weeks waiting for it to ripen, then you leave the room for 5 mins and come back to a rotten mouldy mess x
Bananas produce a gas that ripens them so put the green bananas in a paper bag and twist the top, then keep them in a warm room. This will speed up the ripening process. Most fruit today is sprayed with chemicals unfortunately jcse15.
u mean like plaintain, the cooking bananas they are quite large!!!
Oh yes! Plantain?

They're definitely not plantains!
I'll try the paper bag method.
