out of date rice

i've just found an unopened bag of pudding rice. It says best before end of July. Would you still use it?

Yes of course.
Yes... we never used to have these *best before end of ..* dates and I don't recall having any problems with dried foods then !

I'd use it even it it were BBE July 1998.

It can't possibly go off, ever.
I remove out of date tags on my foods, especially dried & tinned as kids clear my cupboards.

When kids have gone I retrieve from bin & back into cupboards!
Same goes for Pasta.......R.
I should have added..Beans, Lentils etc....In fact anything that is a dried -out product will keep virtually forever....Ron

really? Why do they put dates on then? Just so we'll buy more I suppose!
Yes its fine,the makers of these products have to put a BBE to cover their butts. i have used stuff from tins and packets 10 years out of date and im still here :)
