I nipped out in my lunch and bought some strawberries, blueberries and a flan case. I thought I had some quick gel in the cupboard! What can I do? I've got regular jelly, custard, whipping and double cream.

I would have thought normal jelly would do with more water that normal
Hi crisgal, quick gel sets quicker. Normal jelly will soak in to the sponge before setting. Make the jelly as you would normally in a bowl & let it set. Just serve it up with the sponge & fruit on top of the case.
I have 4 packets in my cupboard too! lol!
Oh yer good idea didnt think of that. :-)

i'd go with cream meself
I am too late for last night but here is a tip for the future. You can make a gel using juice from a tin of fruit by bringing it to a boil and adding it to a small amount of either custard powder or cornflour mixed with a little cold water. If you use custard powder the result will take on the colour of the fruit juice whereas the cornflour will stay white.
This can then be spooned into the flan case and will set as it cools.

Sorry I forgot to say that you need to put it back into the saucepan on the heat for about 1 minute stirring constantly. You will see the liquid change to a gel.
