cutting down on salt

As i am trying to cut down on my salt intake and finding it hard im wondering if theres anything i could substitute it with thats not as bad for you any ideas? x

You can also get a herb and salt mixture- I think it's French, which is also slightly better than normal salt. My advice is to try and make food taste more interesting using herbs and spices- garlic, paprika, pepper etc. After a short while your taste buds adapt and you actually go off salty food!! Also if you avoid eating processed food, you will be drastically cutting down on your salt intake without even realising it!

it has some ideas as to salt substitutes. And I also thought sea salt was better for you,but apparently it has the same amount of sodium in it, so really no better at all...
I haven't used salt in cooking for years, (at least not added any) or put it on food at the table and have got used to it. At one time I used mixed herbs instead, but don't even bother with that now.
Another way of cutting down is gradually reduce the amount you are using, that way at least your taste buds won't feel too deprived!!!
