As i am dieting at the minute i am drinking lots of water as advised and i am just wondering if tap water is just as good as mineral water and whats the difference between the two? x
Its been proven that (in the UK at least) tap water is just as good as mineral water. Some mineral water is specialised however with for example a higher calcium content. I get mineral water because it tastes better.
if your tap water tastes a bit odd...try a water filter. really pretty cheap, availabel from supermarkets these days, and I've been told that in hard water areas (eg England), it can make a big diference.
In interesting fact for you:
Patient recovering from chemotherapy are given a list of food & drinks that the should avoid. Top of that list is bottled water - aparrently due to the increased levels of plastics that have come from the bottle. Bottled water also contains more bacteria.
Hasn't every drop of water been through 4 people? So in that sense it doesn't matter which you choose. I have heard that different mineral waters contain varying proportions of - you guessed it - different minerals so you may prefer the taste of one or another. Personally I always drink mineral water because where I live the water is very hard and it tastes quite 'rough' in comparison to bottled, plus I don't like that slight chlorinated taste. I think there were some blind taste tests done recently though and the tap water came out as good as the mineral so I suppose it depends where you live.
