Yes it is still on sale in all off licences, Tesco's and most drink outlets.
It used to be brewed at the Whitbread brewery in Sheffield, where the pub next door to the brewery was the only one in the country to sell it on draught. (Even so, they only allowed you to buy a third of a pint at a time).

It's still available in many supermarkets but it's now only in cans rather than in bottles. You can also buy it online:

(Those reviews are inaccurately headed 'Whitbread Gold Label' because the 'Whitbread' brand name is no longer associated with the product).

Years ago, when I worked nights, I used to drink a six pack a day to help me sleep (ordinary beer). It got me to sleep but the trouble was I kept waking to have a pee, so I switched to gold label.

I found it great stuff - 2 cans and I was tipsy, 3 and I was gone, and no peeing. Unfortunately though I built up a resistance to it. Yeah I had the same amount of alcohol in me but eventually even a four pack didn't knock me out.

I still have the odd can though
I remember it ..it was very strong and
like golden syrup ...not my thing at all ...
My grandad used to get lashed on this. My nan barred him form drinking it.
Euuww ... its gross ....
Horrible stuff. Couldn't even drink it back in the days we used to drink Thunderbird to get pi$$ed!

Supermarkets, especially Tescos, still sell it in cans though obviously you have to buy a four pack.
yes, my dad used to drink this & one of the causes of his death was chronic alcholism! hard stuff!!!!
Yes - I got horribly drunk on it once (in my wild & wanton youth!!) in a pub somewhere in the east end of London, that had a revolving stage! That's all I remember....
