Thanks guys!!!.....I think a bit of interior central heating will be required this winter!....now I will be prepared..;-))

Yeh funny......3 packs for a pound if I am not mistaken.
Chillies freeze brilliantly. I'm off to Tescos. Slicing 'em up when they're still frozen is easiest, - otherwise they can go a bit rubbery on you.
I chop them up before I freeze them, then freeze them in a container. If you don't compact them into a container you can simply take out a frozen spoonful as and when you need it in recipes, and a teaspoonful equates to one chopped chilli!
Yes, very well. I bought large quantities of Dorset Nagas last Autumn and put them straight into the freezer (except for the one I ate raw - gradually!). When it's time to cook a curry, I just take one or two out, chop while still frozen, and lob into the pot.

For adding zest to, say, a jalfrezi however, you need to add fresh green chillies.

p.s. why are you buying chillies from Tesco? Don't you have any local Indian grocers? - much cheaper.
Question Author
Yes Gormless...we do have Indian grocers even here in darkest Plymouth....but I can't always get to them when they have just gotten all the nice fresh produce in,sooooo......it is off to the dreaded Tesco monstrosity.
Why not grow your own then freeze them?

Because I live in a 3rd/4th fl flat and I don't have any window boxes. ;-((
Do you have a south facing windowseal?
Question Author
I have south-facing windows at the rear of my flat........but all the window boxes that folk have are at the front....so I do not know if they can be installed at the back.
Take a look at this Chilli growers forum.
They grow better inside than out.
