Vaguely remember making blancmange as a child with cornflour, sugar and milk. Sounds revolting now, but it was a Sunday tea time dessert, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it! It is quite custardy in texture.
It means "white eating" in French and is a bit like a cross between a jelly and a custard. Personally, I don't like it - reminds me of school dinners when I was little!!
I'm shuddering here, remembering the skin it has on top- eeeuuuuuwwwww.
Yes, it's a french word but the french won't touch it nor jelly.
I'd describe it as a milk jelly - you can buy mixes in the supermarket for it
(been there done that & shan't bother again!) lol
you used to get flavoured blancmange mix in a packet, think there was a chocolate one,and strawberry flavour!!!
