hello dinkydoo.

We made our wine a week ago, and its bubbling like mad.

(5 gallons) its in our warm living room.

turn your heating up a bit more, keep out of draughts etc.

should race away then . (could it be your yeast? )

did you put enough into the demi?

maybe the wine has already finished fermenting?

look at the bottom of the demi, to see if its very clear and sediments laying on the bottom .

thanks for the answer pusskins, yes the sediment is at the bottom and the wine does look clear but dont you think this is quite instant if its ready now?
dinkydoo --

Some wines are a lot quicker than others.
Assuming you've got a warm room, my guess its that its now ready to bottle, seeing as its stopped bubbling through the airlocks.
Can you syphon off just a drop , and give it a taste?
We would do that . good luck
aren't you supposed to bottle it and then leave it for a while, to be at it's best?

hi ethandron

we normally just bottle it and leave it.

but saying that, if it tastes really good, just drink it now if your waiting on it.

as i said before, some wines get stronger quicker than others I do believe . thanks ethandron for reply
your wine is ready for syphoning now,you need some tubing for that, make sure your bottles are sterilised and don't leave any tops off,not for a minute while you are doing this, the fruit fly will be in in a minute, once it's all bottled put them in the coldest place possible(not the fridge) you will get more sediment at the bottom of bottles syphon once more, another few weeks or less it will be nice and clear and ready for drinking, good luck.

good idea sodemall.

that just may help dinkydoo to solve the problem , and put her mind at rest.

hiya

our bottled wine has never had to be re bottled due to sediment . (luckily)
definately sterilize the bottles, and corks.

hick hick -- enjoy
d'you know what pusskin, i'm really looking forward to getting started with this wine making malarky. wish i had a bit more time at the moment, but it'll make it all the more interesting and (hopefully) enjoyable when i do make some. i'm sure i'll be asking lots of questions.
