its like cauliflower cheese, only with sprouts. i want to make it as a 'side' for xmas day. the recipe i have says to use fresh sprouts, but i only have frozen and dont want to go and buy any. my sprouts say do not defrost, so do you think i can just pour the cheese sauce over the frozen sprouts and they will cook in the sauce. will this work? or will my sauce go all watery and horrible, maybe even lumpy. perhaps you would suggest defrosting them anyways.... any comments gratefully received.

I would blanch the sprouts in boiling salted water for 2 mins, drain thoroughly then pour over the cheese sauce.
So with aniani's suggestion - anything other than this will result in nasty sprouts in watery cheese sauce in my opinion.

great, thanks, i will give it a go
we do sprouts in cheese sauce too! its yummy... I cook the sprouts fully though then pour the hot cheese sauce on after.
Sauce is same as a white sauce (cornflour, milk etc) but with melted grated cheese in.. and you can never have too much cheese either!
Yum

Happy Xmas!
Why not just get fresh sprouts?

Just what I was going to say ummmm.....taste better too!
True.. the frozen ones would keep anyway so you wouldnt have to use them up now!!
