I got a sandwich toaster for christmas and it is my new best friend! However, I have a limited imagination when it comes to what to put in them. The only things i do are
-Brie and mango chutney/cranberry jelly
-Cheddar and tomato
-Cheddar and ham

Any faves to reccomend?

corned beef and onion is my fave :-)
Cheese & beans
Leftover lamb & mint jelly
Egg!

Crack your egg directly onto the first slice, chuck your top slice on, close lid and cook. Yum.

Also very nice with a bit of grated cheese thrown in too :o)

yum these all sound so good! I was wondering just this morning if an egg would work in it, so thanks for solving that mystery Lakitu!
Corned beef and onion is great too.
Question Author
Never considered corned beef - that will be good as it always gets left in the fridge for ages!
You're welcome, it's very nice. I do tend to leave the toastie in for a few minutes longer just to make sure it's cooked through :o)
Left over curried veg or curried anything really as long as the sauce is very thick- then dip your sarnie in yogurt flavoured with mint
Agree with lakitu - egg is lovely.
Surprisingly so is jam and ice cream. Just spread some jam on each slice of bread (the bit that will be the inside of the sandwich!) Stick a scoop of ice cream in it and toast as normal.
agree with laki and bensma re the egg( a wee banty egg is the best)
also corned beef/onion
cheese/pineapple
ice cream and jam sounds....well.....different !

That's done it, I'm going to have to get mine out of hiding. It hasn't seen the outside of the cupboard since my student days when we'd put beans in them or any left overs.

That was pre student loans and when Student Grants had to last. Shopping consisted of bread and beans.
