I'm making a beef cobbler for tonight's meal for the first time. When I put the scones on the top, they sunk! what have I done wrong?

You're right puddicat. I cooked the meat this afternoon then kept it hot in a medium oven; while I was making the scones I put the heat back up but no doubt the meat wasn't at the heat it needed to be when I put them in... It's a right flop but will know for next time. Thank you so much for enlightening me. Very much appreciated.
Cook the meat at a moderate temp.(160c).When cooked put the cobblers on top and then increase the heat (220c) .Cook for further 15 mins .
