foreign bodies in pie
9 Answers
I bought a well known branded minced beef and onion pie over the weekend and decided to have it for lunch today.
After two mouthfuls I found more than minced beef, onion and gravy in it. UGH!!!!!!
Who should I complain to? The shop where I bought it, or write to the manufacturer. I have all the wrapping and 3/4 of pie left.

I had a tin of raw potatoes in a potato salad from Heinz which I reported to them and they sent me a huge box with just about one of every Heinz tinned product in it. Mind you that was about 10 years ago, not sure they would be quite so generous today.
my ma in law found a stick insect in her pickle, was really ill and upset. We took it to council trading standards food division and they confirmed it was indeed a stick .....or rather just a very little stalk..........and only to expected in that sort of food......red faces all round except for mil who still insisted it had made her throw up and the manufacturers should be fined.....ah well
When you purchase something, the contract of sale is between you and the retailer, so you should complain to the shop. If you get no joy, keep calm and don't argue - just tell them you will go to Trading Standards - and do it.
(Incidentally, it will do no harm to let the manufacturers know their product is sub-standard too).

You need to contact your local environmental health team at your local council. They will investigate thoroughly as they take it very seriously. You need to send them the item and the packaging. If you want to complain to the shop, you should photocopy the wrapping and the "item" or take a photo and enclose it.
It is important environmental health get the item so they can investigate it. You would be surprised how many such complaints and "evidence" gets mislaid if left to the shop.
