Hi there.
You can either shred the cabbage and put it in a steamer.
Or shred the cabbage and put it in a large saucepan, with water to only half way up the pan. Quickly bring to the boil, then turn down and simmer for approx 20/25 minutes, test with a sharp fork to see that it is tender, when it is tender enough to your taste, drain in a colander, and return to the warm pan. Then stir in a generous couple of knobs of butter, and sprinkle with ginger powder to taste. This is a lovely winter accompaniment to a main meal. If ginger isn't liked, the cabbage is just as nice with only the butter. Hope your husband likes it, mine does.

Chop some smoked streaky bacon & fry until cooked. Add your chopped red cabbage, a chopped cooking apple, a little water and 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar to the pan. Bring to the boil then simmer on a low heat until most of the liquid has gone & you're left with a gorgeously sticky mess.
